Petra Dannehl (1948–2020) was born in Leipzig and grew up in Davos and Hamburg where she studied applied art and painting. She worked for over 30 years as a freelance artist in Germany and Switzerland.
The focal point of her work is mankind. The figures in her paintings move between the realms of reality and dream and are defined through a conscious blurring of their attitude and movement in abstract space and context.
In addition to numerous exhibitions in various institutions and galleries, her large-format paintings were chosen by a jury and presented in the Kunsthaus Hamburg, as the diptych Exit Eden in 2016 as well as the four-part work Sommergäste in 2017.
Petra Dannehl was a member of the Berufsverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler e.V. Hamburg. Dannehl’s work is represented in many private and public collections, such as the Hamburger Sparkasse, the HSH Nordbank or the Signal Iduna Group.
